The Artist and the Twins

Chapter 5
Other Options

"I'm back" Rin said with a smile. She gave me the cinnamon stick and put the glass pitcher on the table. She sat down next to me. I was confused.

'What the hell is the cinnamon stick for? Do I eat it? Do I put it in the pitcher? What do I do?' I thought.

"Wave it." Rin said.

"What?" I asked.

"The cinnamon stick." Len answered. "Its a wonderful and magical stick."

I couldn't help but laugh at what he said.

"You think it is impossible?" Rin asked. I didn't want to admit that I was thinking something else when Len said 'wonderful and magical stick'.

"Sure let's go with that." I said, trying not to laugh.

"See this pitcher?" Rin asked.

"Yes." I answered. "What about it?"

"If you wave the cinnamon stick syrup will appear in the pitcher" Len said. I started laughing again.

"Oh my god.." I said. While trying to hold back my laugh.

"And if you continue to wave the cinnamon stick, the syrup will rise." Rin said. I tried to hold back my laugh.

"Oh my god.." I said giggling.

"And pretty soon, the syrup will overflow" Len said. I started to laugh even harder but I was holding it back. Or at least I was trying to.

"Oh my god!" I said.

"And when it overflows, you can hold onto the cinnamon stick." Rin said. I instantly stopped laughing.

"That one is also wrong." I said. Rin and Len were looking at me with confused stare. I know it was wrong to laugh but, what they said was absolutely hilarious.

"So I just wave this?" I asked

"Yes." Rin said.

I waved the cinnamon stick, and instantly, maple syrup appeared in the glass pitcher. I couldn't believe it. Len and Rin were right.

"Woah." I said. "That's incredible." I continued to wave the cinnamon stick until the pitcher was full of syrup. It was amazing.

"Try some." Rin said.

"Its delicious." Len said. "Just dip the cinnamon stick in the pitcher and taste the syrup." I laughed a little bit, but I dipped it in the pitcher and tasted the syrup. It was the most delicious syrup I have ever tasted in my entire life.

"Oh my god. This is awesome!" I said.

"I knew you'd like it." Rin said with a smile. "I know you like sweet things." I looked at her.

"Wait.. how do you know?" I asked. "I just met you."

"Oh I know a lot of things."

"Um ok?"

Len and Rin stood up and looked at me. I looked away from them.

"Brie, you must be tired from all that walking." Len said. "Why don't you sleep?" I was pretty surprised. They just met me and now they're saying I should spend the effing night? Incredible. I answered in the best way as possible without sounding like a child.

"I'm sorry, but I really need to use your phone." I said. "My friend is still missing and I have to find a way out of this forest. Do you guys know the way out?"

Rin and Len looked at me. There was a awkward silence for about a minute.

"Your friend will be fine." Len said. "You've been walking a long way. You should get some rest now." I was getting pretty annoyed with Len. He ignored everything I said except for 'My friend is still missing' It sounded like he doesn't even care about anything but me.

"Please, don't worry about me." I said. "I'll be fine."

"And so will your friend." Rin said. "You need to rest."

"Do you guys even know your way around this forest?" I asked.

"Of course we do. We know every tree, every path, and every scent of this forest." Len answered.

"Sweet" I said. "Can you please show me the way out?" There was another awkward silence.

"Uhhh.. can you show me the way out of this forest?" I asked. "And may I use your phone?"

They were silent for another minute. Then there was a loud noise. It was the sound of thunder.

"Oh no..." I said. I ran to a nearby window, and looked outside. It was pouring rain. I was not happy about this.

"Dammit!" I said. "Well...can I still use your phone?"

"Oh of course." Len said. "The phone down the hall and to the right."

"Oh thank you. Thank you so much." I said. Finally, I finally get to use the phone and call for help. I walked down the hall. In the hallway there were a lot of pictures on the walls. All of them looked like they were drawn by a child. Every picture had Rin, Len, and a little girl in the pictures.

'These pictures...' I thought 'Who drew these?' I figured it was probably Rin or Len. They did mention that they wern't good at drawing. I continued to walk down the hall, and then walked to the right. I was so happy, I finally found the phone. I picked up the phone and quickly dialed 911 and waited. There was no ringing noise on the phone. I tried hanging up and redialing the number, but nobody answered. I looked at the phone lines, and realized that they were cut. I looked around to see if there were any scissors, but I couldn't find anything. I walked back into the other room. Rin and Len were waiting for me.

"Were you able to call somebody?" Rin asked. I looked down.

"No. the line was cut." I answered. Rin and Len looked sad after I said that.

"I'm sorry." Len said.

"Oh it's okay. I'm not out of options yet."

"Oh really?" Rin asked.

"Yeah." I answered. "Do you have an umbrella?"

"An umbrella?" Len asked.

"Yes. So you guys can escort me out of the forest, and so we don't get wet from the rain."

They looked at me all weird.

"I'm sorry to say this but, I'm afraid we don't own an umbrella." Len said.

"Oh great. I'm stuck here until the storm passes." I said. "And who knows how long that will take?" I was completely out of options. The only thing left to do was wait for the storm to pass.
