The Artist and the Twins

Chapter 1
Its A Long Story

"You're lucky you survived." said Officer Mike. I couldn't take him very seriously because of his red bandana and earring, and the fact that he was a pikachu. But I pretended that I did. "That stab wound could've killed you."

"I know." I said. I touched the bandages that were covering the wound. It hurt a little bit but, it was ok. "I just wish I saw it coming." I had a sudden flashback of what happened. I shivered in my hospital bed. I looked at Mike with a worried look. He looked at me like I was a lost puppy in the rain.

"We thought you were dead for a sec. You really had us worried." he said. "I'm glad you're still alive."

"I'm glad you're still with the police." I said. "I thought you said you were thinking of quitting."

"I did think about quitting, until I heard you were in trouble."

"I'm the reason you kept your job?"

"Yeah, because I realized, I could help lots of people and possibly save lives if I kept this job, even if it costs my life."

"Wow.."

"And I did save a life... I saved yours."

I began to feel a little teary eyed. I never knew Mike could talk like he was a warrior. I took a tissue that was beside my bed, and wiped my eyes with it.

"You're a good friend Mike." I said. He smiled at me, but then his smile went away.

"...Brie?"

"Yeah?"

"Would you mind...telling me what happened?" I laughed a little bit.

"If I told you, you would think I'm crazy." I said.

"I promise I won't laugh." He said. He smiled at me. I saw a little spark come out of his red cheeks. I looked away from him. I have a hard time looking people in the eye when they talk to me.

"Well, alright." I said. "I have to start at the beginning though."

"I'm cool with that." Mike said. "Take all the time you need. I'll listen."

"Ok. But it's a long story."

"That's okay. Just tell me the story and I will listen to every word."
