Len sighed onto his window, fogging up the glass. It was rainy days that made him think of her most; he didn't know why, but the rain made him think of her. He closed his eyes, imagining her standing there in front of him, ready to hit him again. He smiled sheepishly. Even if it were in the form of insults or pain, it was still attention from her… right?
Not as if those were the only kinds of attention she gave him. No, no, no, she sung with him and drove the roadroller with him and acted with him. But to Len, those became silly little things for the fans. The things that she did that he held most dear were the things she did for him and him only. He felt his heart wrench. As much as he hated to admit it, she was the one he loved – yes, Len Kagamine was in love with his twin sister.
"...en! Len! God, Len, wake up you dumbass!"
Cracking an eye open, the Kagamine boy was met with the face of his sister. Her mouth was moving, but… no sound came out. Huh. Well, anyway it dawned on him that he had fallen asleep while staring out the window. What was he even thinking so hard about that made him fall aslee—oh, right. His sister. Which, oh yeah, happened to be—
"Hellooo? Earth to Len, wake up, stupid!"
Len blinked. Since when was Rin there…?
"Finally! Jeez, next time I swear, Len, I'm going to dump a bucket of water on your head."
Sunlight streamed in through the window, and he shut his eyes against it. He felt really sleepy. That was, until Rin's fist connected with his head.
"Oww! What the—"
"Wake! Up!"
Oh, right, Rin. "Huh? Oh, hi Rin,"
"Morning, numbnut."
Why was he sitting in the window? He felt very disoriented and… wait, hadn't he just been thinking about this? Len rubbed his head where Rin had punched it. Yes, in fact he had just thought about that. Now his brain was going in circles.
"Now that you've finally joined me on this planet, Len, you need to come downstairs. Meiko made breakfast and has been trying to call you down for the past twenty minutes."
Len blinked again and looked at his sister. Her hands were on her hips, her cute little face scrunched with anger… Len shook his head. Now was not the time to think of these things.
"And you know, she always takes it out on me, so I'm tired of taking your bullets. Get down here!"
Rin grabbed Len by the arm and pulled him off the window seat. It was excruciatingly painful, yes, but he had gotten used to it by now. Sort of.
"Ow ow ow! Rin, stop! Stop!"
She let go and smiled devilishly. "Fine then," She bent down to look him in the eye, since he was now splayed on the floor. "You better be down there in two minutes, or else I'll run the roadroller right over your tiny little body. Got that?"
Len nodded slowly.
"Good." She then strolled out the room and closed the door behind her nonchalantly.
Len stood up and wiped the dust off his shorts. Yeah, even if it was violent – extremely violent – Rin still gave him attention, and he was happy about that. Although he'd rather have their contact in the form of a kiss than a punch… Len stopped himself again. Whether or not it were a kiss or punch, it would never be either if he were dead; so he sprinted out his door and down the stairs to make sure Rin wouldn't go fetch the roadroller.
"Finally, there you are!" Meiko's voice greeted his ears as Len turned the corner into the kitchen. "Miku and Luka both already finished and went to the studio, and I just finished too. You really need to set an alarm or something."
Len nodded numbly. No pan? No fork? She wasn't being violent?
No, apparently not. She strolled out of the room right past him and didn't look back.
"Wow, you escaped from Meiko!" Kaito mused from the table as he stood up. His plate was clean, and Len assumed he was done too. "I think I'm gonna have to come to you for lessons, Len, that was amazing!"
Yeah, it was amazing. And he didn't even know how he did it.
Kaito grabbed an ice cream bar from the fridge and skipped happily down the hall, singing something about ponies. Or maybe it was unicorns. Either way, it was some kind of song Len really didn't feel like listening to at the moment.
Len went to the table and sat beside his twin, noticing she was almost done too. He looked at his plate. Bacon and eggs. How joyously, yummyliciously… delicious. If anything could make it better, it needed more bananas.
"See, you took so long everyone's gone." Rin put down her fork and stood up. "Anyway, I'm going to the bathroom. I'll be right back." She left the room slowly as well, leaving Len all alone.
Len put his elbow on the table and sighed dejectedly. Why did he have to be in love with his sister, of all people! And if he told her, what would she say? He wanted to get it out so badly, but… how?
It was then that he spotted the plate of extra bacon. And that bacon gave Len a very, very good idea.
Holding back a giggle of delight and a cry of terror, Len watched as Rin came back into the room. Len was standing beside the table, waiting for her to come back. And… well, here she was.
"Len…? What's the meaning of this?" She gestured to his greasy bacon message laid out on the table.
"Exactly what it says…"
"So you spelled 'I love you' with bacon on our dining room table."
"Y… yeah…"
Rin jerked his arm and pulled him next to her. He gulped nervously, because now would be his untimely time of death. Goodbye, world.
"With an egg as an exclamation point?"
"Y… yeah…"
She stared him in the eyes, and silence crackled in the air uncomfortably. Any minute now, she'd reach forward with her other hand and snap his neck.
"Heh. More creative than I could've done."
"W-wha…"
And before he knew what was going on, Rin pressed her lips against his. His stomach flipped – what just happened? She was kissing him? But oh god, it felt so good… the kiss he'd wanted for so long, and he hadn't even had to risk his life for starting it himself.
Yeah, Len would definitely have to thank Meiko for making bacon and eggs this morning.
