That time… we never knew we had a huge difference. Seeing each other is an everyday thing for us. The current princess of our country… we used to play together. I loved her… as a sister, no more, no less.
We met at the age of ten. We separated on her thirteenth birthday. I didn't really know what happened because I kept waiting… and waiting. Right, we were supposed to meet on our favorite garden, the place where we first met. The next thing I knew… she was already our princess.
Year passed. Not even a single connection with her.
I met my destined girl later. She had been the very reason my heart beats. With her, every moment became precious. I truly loved her. I never thought my peaceful life would be ruined until one day, Rin, the princess, visited me.
I wasn't sure of what to feel at her sight. Her hair grew longer; she looked as fragile as angel. I hurriedly threw my arms around her, not minding the bodyguards behind, and cried. She hugged me back and asked if I could come back with her to the palace as her private guardian. Carried away by my overflowing happiness, I nodded.
Every now and then, I secretly write to my girlfriend. I don't know why it needed to be kept a secret, my hunch just told me. I was used to living here. Following Rin-sama wherever she goes, always wielded with a weapon. Following her every command and all.
One night, as I was re-reading my lover's letters, Rin-sama entered my room without a knock. As to be expected, she asked what was I reading, and I had to answer honestly. For the first time, I saw her sob. She sat beside me and held my hands tight. "I order you to kill your girlfriend."
I had to make a decision before the sun rises. Memories with the both of them came flashing. I was very, very, confused.
At dawn, I found myself standing in front of my girlfriend's house. I was about to leave when all of a sudden, the door opened. She came into view and gave me a warm smile.
I slowly walked towards her and bent to kiss her on the lips. "I love you, okay?"
She nodded gently, "I know."
As tears were falling, I covered her mouth and withdrew from my side a sword that has tasted too much blood already. With a bit of hesitation, I buried the sword somewhere where she couldn't feel pain and immediately lose consciousness. I hugged her very tightly for the last time and carried her with me to the palace. I'm sure she's in heaven by now…
When I entered Rin-sama's bedroom, she was curled up like a ball at the corner. I put down my lover's body in front of her and bowed, "I did what you instructed me to do, your majesty."
She clenched her fists as she stood to face me. Again, tears were forming in her eyes. "I am very sorry…"
I smiled at her weakly. At this point, I knew that I loved the princess in front of me the most and as more than a sister. I knew what I did was a crime but still, the power of love conquers all. "Anything, my princess, I'll give you."
