Chapter 11
Bonding

Len POV:

"R-Rin.. Y-You're kidding right?"

I couldn't believe her.. Not at all.. I mean, I knew she wasn't lying to me.. But it's just unbelievable..

"L-Len you've got to confront her.." Rin said, with slight tears in her eyes.

"I-I don't want to…"

"B-But Len! Please.. It will be beneficial to you in the end.. That's why you—"

"Rin.. I said.."

"But Len! I thought you said that you wanted to meet—"

"Rin! I said No!"

Sorry Rin but I can't.. It's just too sudden..

She slowly got up and she seemed to have taken my words a little more harshly than I expected it to have been. With a little apology she left my house. Now I feel bad… Way to go Len..

Rin POV:

"Rin! I said No!" Len said with anger.

More tears fell down and I got up with my bag. As I retreated, I said, "I was only trying to help.. Sorry.." and left his abode.

I ran out and as I was running, I suddenly bumped into—Kagamine Sakura-san?

"A-Ano.. Gomenasai.." was all I said as I slowly got up and picked up my belongings that fell out of my bag.

"It's okay dear.. Here, let me help you.." I think she noticed I was crying..

"Ahh.. Thank you.."

How kind..

As she helped me pick up my belongings she came across a picture. A picture of both Len and I. He and I were smiling and it was taken at our school. (A/N : This is the same picture as the one that Rin looked at to regain all her memories that she had lost. Just a little fun fact that doesn't really matter XD) Sakura-san started to shake, tears were falling from her eyes.

"Umm.. Are you okay?"

She began to snap back to reality and she questioned me.

"Rin-san.. Are you perhaps.. Len's girlfriend?"

"No! We are just really close friends that's all.." I quickly replied with a crimson red blush, "And, you may call me Rin-chan or simply Rin."

"I know that this is hard of you to ask but could you please let me talk with Len?"

I became silent for a brief moment. Len and I just had an argument.. If I came inside with his mother how better would that make our situation currently..? According to my calculations, not that much better, as a matter of fact, even worse than our status now..

"I was actually hoping that you guys could meet.. but.."

"B-But?"

"Len and I just had a fight.."

The tears from before had an urge to come back. I just wanted to help him.. So that he wouldn't end up like me.. So that he understands that having a mother that actually cared for you and misses you and actually would want to stay home with you..

"Oh dear.. Is that why you are crying?"

So she did notice I was crying..

I just stayed quiet.

"If you don't mind Rin-san, would you please tell me what happened?"

Okay.. Rin.. Why are you thinking about telling what happened between you and Len, to her? I mean she is, oh I don't know, basically a stranger! Well not really.. But I mean she didn't seem like she would hurt a fly.. So why not.. I mean maybe she could help me make sure Len doesn't end up like me..

"I-It all started on that day that I encountered and kind of met you.. Len noticed that the other woman that was with you was his foster mother.. so he ran off.. I wanted to catch up to him, but you wanted to talk to me.. Therefore, I followed just to know who you guys were and why Len might have ran away. I figured out the main reason and Len wasn't in school for about 1 week. That's why sensei gave me his address and I was scheduled to tutor him.." I paused to check if she was giving me her attention and she really was..

She kind of felt like a mother I never—well I wouldn't say never but my mother was never there for me so you get the point..

I continued, "So I went to his house today and I was going to tutor him, but he—" I winced before saying this portion of my story due to the fact I expected a gasp from Sakura-san. "was crouched up in a corner, not eating ever since he saw you both and taking anti-depressants.."

My hypothesis was correct, she did get wide-eyed and gasp at my story..

"When I asked him about why he ran off in the middle of finishing he loses his grasp of consciousness and passes out with a high fever." She looked as if she was going to cry.

"But there is no need to worry, his fever is gone due to the porridge and medicine I had made and he should be fine.." She seemed more relieved but I wasn't quite finished yet. "When he regained consciousness, I told him—almost begged him to meet you again. He even said so himself, that he wanted to meet you at least once in his life.. but he changed his mind after I told him who you were.. He got angry because I kept trying to convince him that he should meet you.. I just don't want him to end up like me!"

I cried at that point and I was embarrassed.. I was crying in front of a woman and of all people Len's mother. The guy I.. liked..

She patted my back so tenderly and watched me cry.. She was tearing up herself..

"It's okay sweetie.. you can stop now.."

I was so glad that she didn't ask what my past was, that was what I would most likely expect, but she was a nice person..

Then a familiar voice sounded in my ears. "Rin?"

I turned around.. to see Len. I quickly glanced up to Sakura-san and saw that she cupped her mouth.

Len POV:

I really shouldn't be up but I needed to apologize to Rin.. She just wanted what was best for me.. I left and for some reason I felt that the proximity between Rin and myself was very good. I heard her crying.. Oh no.. I didn't make her cry like that did I? I fastened my pase a little, I couldn't really run as fast as I would usually could due to the fact that I didn't have much energy. I finally arrived at my destination point. I saw someone's hand on Rin's back gently patting it as she cried.

"Rin?"

I glanced and got a closer view. Rin turned around and faced me for what seemed like 3 seconds and then quickly glanced to the woman next to her. She looks rather familiar..

No way.. It can't be..

"L-Len.. Is it really you..?" the woman asked.

"W-Who are y-y-you?"

She quickly ran up to me and embraced me.

"You grew so much! You don't know how much I was worried about you! I was looking for you for 15 years now!"

"M-Mom?"

"I'm sorry Len.. It's all my fault that your father took you away from me and mistreated you.. I'm sorry.. From now on I'll be a good mother! So please Len will you accept me as a mother again?" she cried out.

I gripped on my mother's sweater and embraced her back, "Y-Yes.."

"T-Thank you Len.."

I saw with the corner of my eyes that Rin was leaving us.. She turned around and gave me a little smile, and with that she ran off. I didn't want her to leave.. it was thanks to her I met my mother again and although I don't know why my foster mother came back my mother told me that she had a new husband and that she still doesn't remember anything of her past. I didn't care anymore though because I met my mother for the first time.. Thank you Rin..

When my mother and I let go of our embrace, she asked me, "Ne, Len.. How did you meet Rin? She is such a sweetie.. She seems distressed though.."

"Oh.. Rin she.. she had a lot of personal problems all her life.. I feel bad for her all the time.. I want to make her smile.. I want to help her realize that.. life isn't as morbid as it seems if she thinks positive.."

"Well, you'd better help her with that." My mother said with a smile.

"Y-Yeah.."

Rin's birthday was actually 3 days after this had happened..

Len POV:

After my mother got settled in to my house. It was so close to Rin's birthday. I was contemplating on what to do for her birthday and I thought that since she was the 'I hate noises and complications' kind of person, I would just invite her to my house and throw a surprise party for her, and knowing Rin, she probably forgot her birthday was even today. I was walking up to school and I saw Rin. She looked really tired. I smiled and thought that since she didn't see me I would scare her and wake her up.

I crept up behind her and, "BOO!"

"Kya!" Rin yelled and she dropped all her books and quickly turned around to her fighting stance.

I laughed, "Haha! I got you!"

She just sighed and bent down to pick up her books, "Very mature Len.." she said sarcastically.

"Hehe, you and your sarcasm.. I bet I woke you up now huh?"

"Yeah you did" she said while giving her small smile

"Good" I said

"You're so positive today. What's up?"

"Oh.. Nothing.."

"Okay..?" she said with a dazed, confused look.

I just laughed and we continued walking to school.

We went through the whole day and I was hoping that school would end faster. I asked Rin at lunch break if she would come over to my home. With a confused look she agreed.

Task One Complete

When the final bell rang I was really nervous.. The gift that I got Rin was hard to get and actually give to her but I knew that I couldn't chicken out on this.. So I walked up to her and took out a blindfold.

She raised an eyebrow and she questioned, "2 questions. 1, what do you want me to do at your house and 2, why do you have a blindfold?"

I chuckled, "2 answers. Answer 1, I want you to see my project for Sensei Luka" I lied. "Answer 2, So that my project would be a surprise."

She just looked at me like I was stupid and surprisingly agreed to my will.

Task Two Complete; One more task to go.. It will definitely be the hardest..

I tied the blindfold over her eyes and grabbed her hand. I blushed at this and moved on. I saw people looking at me. Some girls were giving me sad eyes and Miku gave me a thumbs up as she walked away with Kaito.

"Where are we right now?" Rin questioned.

"Somewhere~"

"Well, are we almost there yet?"

"Just be patient!"

We finally arrived at my house and I slowly opened the door. I gave my mother a thumbs up to let her know to get everything ready.

"Okay Rin, I'm going to take the blindfold off now."

She just nodded and as I took it off, both my mother and I yelled,

"SURPRISE!"

Rin had wide eyes and affectionately smiled.

"Oh, you remembered my birthday.."

I just nervously laughed and said, "Yeah~"

"Happy Birthday Sweetie" my mother said with a gentle smile.

"Thank you both" Rin said with the smile I love.

I thought about the night before, when I consulted my mom about what she thought about the 'gift' I had for Rin. Of course she started laughing and gave me 100% approval. As I snapped back to reality, Rin was blowing out candles.

Time for Task Three.. The hardest one of all.. Calm down Len..

"R-Rin?" I glanced at my mom and shooed her away. She gave me a wink and left the room.

"Hm?" She asked with a smile. She must have never had a birthday party before..

"I was wondering.."

She laughed, "What?"

As I held out a ribboned box, which contained a necklace with a treble clef, that had her name engraved on it. "I was wondering if you would.. be my girlfriend.."

I saw that her eyes were wide.

I like you Rin, hell I think I love you.. Will you be my girlfriend?
