Chapter 2
The Real Me
Rin POV:
Ughhh I feel like I should just skip school, but of course I can't do that so I just walked up to the door and walked inside. Everyone's eyes were on me and I just simply glared at everybody and said "What?"
Sensei Luka sighed and said, "Rin you're late again.. When will you learn?"
I just shrugged and started walking towards my desk when I saw a guy I've never seen before. "Um Sensei, who's that..?"
"Oh that's right, you haven't met our new student, Kagamine Len. He will sit next to you from now on." Sensei pointed out.
Wait.. Kagamine? That's MY last name.. okay that is just really awkward. "Um Sensei I don't mean to burst your bubble, but you know I sit alone."
Luka replied, "Well, I think it's best for you this way Rin. Len this is Kagamine Rin, I hope you two get along." I can hear everyone talking about whether me and this Len guy were related, which we obviously - well not obviously but you know. It's just a coincidence that we happen to have the same last name. I also heard girls whining that they were jealous that they couldn't sit next to Len. Oh god, he's the 'womanizer' type.. but for some reason he doesn't seem that way..
This will be a long day. I slowly walked over to my desk and sat there quietly.
Len POV:
I sit down in my desk and twirl my pencil around. Ughh this is so boring. But suddenly the door opens and I see a girl who was almost emotionless. She glares at us and says "What?"
Well she's polite..
She was different than anybody I have known or met before. She was scolded by Sensei for being late but after Sensei's scolding, Sensei mentioned me, I guess to tell her that I was the new student here. The girl looked at me confused but she didn't look delighted to see me either, and what she said gave me the proof, "Um Sensei I don't mean to burst your bubble, but you know I sit alone."
Ouchh.
Sensei just said "Well, I think it's best for you this way Rin. Len this is Kagamine Rin, I hope you two get along." Well this is a coincidence; we have the same last name, small world. She slowly walked over to my direction and sat down in her desk. She stayed quiet to the point where it was really getting awkward, so I decided to break the silence and start a conversation, but first I should properly introduce myself. "Hey, I'm Len it's a pleasure to meet you."
Rin POV:
I just sat there quietly until the guy next to me said, "Hey, I'm Len it's a pleasure to meet you."
I guess I should at least be a little nice.. Although it's not my character, I should try to change.. Right?
"Hi I'm Rin"
He seemed like he wanted to carry on a conversation but I didn't really feel like talking so I stopped there.
"Well, uhhh, what do you like to do?" Len had asked.
Geez I swear..This was a bad idea..
"Why?" I asked a little irritated.
Len replied a little irritated as well, "Well I'd like to know people here and I thought I should get to know who I will sit with for the time being."
Can this guy be any more annoying?
"Fine, I like to sing, happy?" I said a little too loud than expected.
"Rin, keep your voice down you are being disrespectful." Sensei scolded.
"Whatever." I muttered to myself.
Len then replied to what I said about singing and he said, "Hmm.. You like singing too huh?"
I just simply replied, "Yeah, I guess"
At that the bell rang for lunch break and I quickly gathered my belongings, however, before I could leave, Len had asked me with a slight shiver, "Hey, mind if I sit with you?"
I can come to terms to why he would want to sit with me, some random girls are eyeing him down with hunger. Oh dear lord..
Okay Rin, be nice..
"Fine.. Follow me" He gave me a relieved smile and followed me outside.
I always ate outside because it was a bother to stay inside and it was too loud. While we were walking, Miku, this girl that really doesn't like me due to past issues, pushed me and went up to Len and asked him, "Hi there Len~~ I'm Miku~~ you want to eat with me and my friends?"
Len just replied, "No thanks, I'm with Rin."
That kind of made me feel happy..
Wait what am I saying?
"Why would you want to eat with her? She is just a poor, weird, antisocial loser who acts – no is a bitch." Miku said very coldly.
I gripped on my white bow on my hair and grinded my teeth so I wouldn't lose my temper.
"So Len~~ You should eat with us and not waste your time with HER.. besides she has no family."
I let go of my bow, walked up to Miku, and slapped her in the face. "You have absolutely no right to talk about me or my family that way!" Even if I think about it that way too..
Miku then got frustrated and left and probably went to go tell her little friends.
Len POV:
When Miku came up to me and asked me to hang out with her, I really didn't want to accept her invitation. I mean I was with Rin after all and she was my - well, acquaintance. However, what made me speechless was that she was calling Rin a bitch and a lot of other bad things about her.. I was gonna say something but I was interrupted by Rin slapping Miku.
That was unexpected.
Miku was dumbfounded and Rin was beyond angry. Miku eventually got frustrated and left. I walked slowly to Rin and she seemed very tense, without me knowing I put a hand on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile.
She said, "Len, if you really wanted to hang out with Miku, you can go."
This is the first time I heard her today actually gentle and not angry or stressed at the most. Even though I can't really say that about Rin since I just met her, however, just by her character, I know that it is rare to see her like this..
I gave a slight laugh and said "Now why would I do that?"
She did something that I never thought I'd see.. she smiled. I then realized that on the outside she is a tough, mean, and complicated person, but the inside she is just a helpless, sad girl who wants to be happy.. Searching for that light..
"Rin, I know it seems weird and personal for me to ask you this, but I was wondering.. what did Miku mean when she said you had no family?" I asked cautiously.
Rin just stood there in deep thought and finally after a long awkward silence she said with her bangs covering her face, "It all started…"
