Chapter 2
Rin's Journey Begins
Rin had her hair back, and her brother's clothes still on as she hurriedly left the city after seeing him executed. She ran to the forest and broke into tears, leaning on a tree that was just out of view from the road that was in the middle. She had played in these woods with Len as a kid, she knew them well. She cried for a bit, her tears running down her face even as she calmed herself down. "It's all his fault…"
She growled, thinking of Kaito, the man that she had loved. She blamed him for Len's death, and she wanted revenge. She knew he had never loved her in return, but she still blamed him and only him. She stood up, wondering how she could do it. Almost half an hour passed by with her thinking until she had come up with an idea.
I know what I'll do, she thought to herself. I'll pretend I'm Len. I'll become one of Kaito's servants, and when he least expects it, when I'm one of his most trusted, I'll kill him and take over the kingdom. It could take a while, but I will be waiting. I'll wait until he is the king, and until I am up as far as I can get to being one of his most trusted.
She thought this was a brilliant plan. But then she realized that she had never worked a day in her life. "What should I do about that?" She complained to herself quietly before returning to thinking. "Maybe… Maybe I can get a job. I can do that. I'll learn how to do what servants do, and then I'll be able to do that… I at least want to be in the blue country, though, so I'll travel there first. Maybe if I offer to be able to work, I can get a place to sleep."
She wiped away her tears and pulled the hood of Len's cloak up so her face wouldn't be able to be seen by any travelers. She started to walk down the road she knew. If she passed by a few towns, she would be able to buy (or steal, if needed) a map and see how to get to the blue country that way. But that might not be needed, she thought, I know which roads lead that way, I believe. I can just stop and get, or steal, some food, and then I'll be leaving towards the blue country.
She took one last look at the kingdom she had grown up in before turning back to the road, starting her journey. She didn't know, but a boy of an identical face to hers and a girl dressed in green watched from the treetops, flying a bit behind her.
"Can she see us?" Len asked Miku.
Miku shook her head. "No. She can't see or hear us unless we concentrate really hard, but that takes up a lot of power and I haven't been able to do that at all. I think it takes a long time to get it right."
Len nodded. "Well… I'm fine with just watching for now."
"Okay," Miku said. She smiled, "We'll follow her for a bit, and then maybe we can go back up to rest. 'Kay?"
Len smiled back. "Okay. And… I'm sorry for killing you."
Miku nodded. "It's okay, I forgive you."
