Sequel of Evil

Chapter 3
West Pine

Rin looked at the town of Westpine. "Looks like this is it."

She walked towards the town, looking around before spotting a tavern named 'The Lucky Mug Inn'. It looked good enough to stay in. Nowhere as good as her old room in the castle, but she would be able to handle it. She untied her hair, letting it hang to her shoulders. "My name in this town will be," she whispered to herself, pausing for a moment and deciding that she would call herself 'Yuki'.

She walked into the tavern, looking for whoever was in charge before seeing a woman at where the beer was being sold. She walked to the woman. "Excuse me? I'm Yuki, and I need a place to stay, I'm willing to work if you let me stay here."

The woman looked at 'Yuki' thoughtfully. "You remind me of someone… Ah well. Go ahead, you can work here. There should be more dresses upstairs. Just take a room and a dress, don't wear that outfit while you work for me."

Once "Yuki" was changed and washed up a bit, the woman started her up with doing chores.

"First, you'll be sweeping the floor," the woman told her. She handed Rin a broom. Rin looked at it blankly, trying to remember what the servants did with these. She put one end on the floor, rubbing it back and forth. It was upside down though. Not like Rin knew that.

"You don't hold it like that," said the woman, taking the broom. She showed Rin how to hold the broom and how to properly use it. Rin swept the entire floor. At least she was learning fast.

Later, Rin was to wash the dishes. The woman sighed at her cluelessness at chores. It could take time to teach her, the woman thought, but she won't be able to get a job elsewhere with no knowledge of even chores.

A whole year passed by, and Rin continued to work there for meals and for a room to stay in. Until Rin realized that some of her old servants were at the inn one day. She stopped, sitting in the kitchen behind the door, not going out there.

"What's wrong?" the woman, Sarah, asked her.

Rin didn't know what to say. She decided she'd just come out with the truth. "Sarah, I haven't told you the truth about myself."

"I always knew there was something you were hiding. Especially at first, you didn't know how to do a single chore," Sarah chuckled. "Go ahead, tell me, child."

"My real name isn't Yuki. I'm Rin, princess of the yellow country," Rin told Sarah. "It wasn't me who died, it was my brother. And now there's some of the old servants here. If any of them see me, I'm going to die."

Sarah nodded understandingly. "Rin, there is a stairway that leads upstairs from the other hallway as well. You know the one. Go up into there and dress up as a boy, pull your hair back, you don't need to cut it. Come back down and I'll give you food and you can leave."

Rin nodded and ran to the staircase, hurriedly changing into Len's clothes once again. She pulled her hair back and slipped out of the room, running out and hurrying so much that she tripped, landing behind the table with the old servants there.

One of them turned. "Len? Where have you been all of these years?"

Rin blinked, having been spotted. "U-uhm, I've been… Here. I'm trying to find work. I'm actually headed off now to another town."

"Well, good luck finding a job then," one of them replied.

She smiled and nodded, quickly walking back to the kitchen. She then looked at Sarah. "You had that food already? Are you sure it's okay if I take it?"

"Rin, it's fine with me. You deserve it," Sarah smiled. "I won't tell anyone that you were here. Now, take this bag."

Sarah said that as she packed the food into there. "It should be able to last you a few days while you travel on foot."

Rin smiled. "Thank you. I don't think I'll ever be able to thank you enough."

Rin left through the back door. Len and Miku watched from outside, peeking into the window. They watched as Rin came out.

Miku flew up into the air, Len following her. "Well," Miku smiled, "It looks like Rin's traveling again. Let's go!"
