Chapter 7
Confusion
Rin awoke to the sound of silence, apart from the groan she made. Her back hurt like hell and it wasn't pleasant. Plus she had a splitting headache that wasn't helping at all. Rin looked around and realized where she was, in the kitchen. She didn't remember moving to the kitchen, so she went to investigate. After walking through to the hallway, she felt sick. Len was sitting beside the bloodied bodies of his own parents, tears streaming down his face. Rin wasn't sure what to say our do, all she could think was danger. Len noticed her presence and looked up at her. His eyes were bloodshot and puffy, confusion and sadness swirling around in them.
"Rin," He muttered, his voice cracking on every syllable, "...Why do I? W-What..?"
All of Rin's instincts were telling her to run away, but she couldn't. Len looked just as he had done when she had found him in the secret passage only days ago. He looked so, so... vulnerable. The girl could do nothing but stand there, waiting for Len to do something drastic.
"I...you...Rin..." Len muttered, his expression blank, "My parents...they are not coming back, are they?"
The only thing Rin did was shake her head, her hands behind her back.
"I'm sorry, mother..." Len muttered, Rin could see his tears hitting the face of the dead woman, "I never really hated you..."
Rin wasn't sure what to think. On one hand, Len was a complete psycho, but on the other, he actually cared about his parents. She walked towards him and sat beside him, ruffling his hair. The pair sat there for a few seconds until Len removed the girl's hand and stood up.
"Luka." He said, "Welcome home..."
"What...the...FUCK?" Luka screamed, losing all control, Len was prepared.
He punched her in the face, causing her to fall to the floor quickly. Luka never got another word in. Rin was taken aback by Len's actions, but she would probably get part of the blame, so why not let Len have his way? She noticed the blood stained bandage on his shoulder, she would have to ask him about that later...if there was a later...
Len ran out of the room and a few minutes later came back with two backpacks in both of his hands. He threw Rin one, who caught it skeptically. She peered inside it and was amazed. From her little experience in camping, Rin could see that Len had put together a full survival pack, complete with clothing changes and a hell of a lot of money, in a matter of minutes. She looked up at Len, who wasn't there. He came back a moment later, wearing clothes a typical teenage boy would wear, the bandage on his arm completely hidden.
"Hey!" Rin exclaimed when he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out of the house, "What do you think you're doing?"
Len looked at her blankly, but there was a sincerity in his eyes that no one could doubt, "You can leave when you want, just...let me take you somewhere safe before the police come."
Rin nodded, she didn't know the local area well and she was likely to be caught - now that she was 'on the run'. She walked with Len was about an hour until he stopped and she was worn out. They were standing in front of a large, brick house with a wooden sign on the door that read 'Miku Hatsune'. Len didn't bother to knock and opened the door quickly, dragging Rin inside.
"Miku?" Len asked, his voice suggesting total peace, "Are you there?"
A pretty girl came down the stairs, gawking at the two people in front of her. Miku's hair was tied into green pigtails that were messy from sleep and she was wearing a short night gown.
"Lenny?" She asked, "I never thought I'd see you again..."
Len laughed, but it was forced, and walked towards Miku. He pulled Rin along with him and pointed to the blonde girl.
"Rin, meet Miku...Miku, meet Rin." He said calmly, a smile tugging at his lips, "Rin, this is my girl, Miku. The one they thought was killed."
"What?" Rin asked, confused. From what Luka had said, Miku was dead. Unless this was another person, all she had been told was lies.
"He never killed him, he actually helped me out when I needed it the most." Miku said, shaking Rin's hand, "Me and Len, we're engaged."
That hit Rin like a ton of bricks. What mad person would want to marry Len? Unless...
"I have a sociopath type personality, figures, right?" Miku laughed, "Two violent people loving each other~"
Rin listened in horror as Miku continued her speech.
"I killed all of my family, I didn't mean it...really!" Miku giggled, "I just thought that they would look so much better in red!"
Len looked at Rin's horrified expression and decided that Miku had said enough, so he silenced the girl with a kiss. Miku grinned, but it faltered once Len broke apart from her.
"Do you want to sleep, Rin?" Len asked kindly, "You look tired..."
"That would be...nice..." Rin muttered, blushing.
Len grabbed Rin's hand and winked at Miku. He took Rin to a guest room upstairs and pointed to the wardrobe.
"There are so many clothes in there, you will have no need to shop for any." He said, he headed towards the door again, "Just shout if you need anything, yes?"
"Lenny~" Miku giggled seductively into his ear, happy to have her other half back, "Ecchi shiyou..."
"Mochiron..." Len muttered back, smirking.
