Chapter 5
Intelligence
"Rin, are you alright?" Len asked, "You are shaking..."
Rin looked at the innocent boy sitting in front of her, he didn't look like he could hurt a fly. He was smiling warmly, with a concerned tone in his voice, who wouldn't fall for that? He stood up and walked towards Rin, who was just rooted to the spot. Len laced his fingers with Rin's and rocked on his heels.
"Rin?" Len asked sweetly, looking at Rin. It didn't seem like she was staring into the eyes of someone with a major mental problem, it felt like she was staring at a cute little kid.
"Eh? Yes?" Rin asked, snapping out of her little daze. She soon realized that Len had been awaiting an answer for a while and his smile was faltering, "Oh! I'm fine!"
"That is good." Len said, letting go of Rin's hands, "I was worried..."
"What would you be worried about?" Rin asked, she walked back towards the bed and sat on it.
"I-I just-" Len mumbled, "I do not want to be alone again."
He sat down beside Rin, "Loneliness can be a good thing...it shows you want you are living for..."
Rin was silent, why was his change of tone scaring her? How did his English suddenly improve? Rin didn't have any answers.
"What are you living for, Rin?" Len asked, looking at the floor.
"Me? I want to be happy, with a good career and a proper family..." Rin muttered, still a little scared.
"That is nice..." Len commented, "I never thought of that..."
"Len, it's almost 10:30, we should sleep." Rin moaned, tired. She laid down and closed her eyes, motioning for Len to do the same.
"Yes!" Len replied, copying Rin.
Rin Kagamine awoke the next morning feeling fresh. She loved sleeping. She turned on her side and saw Len snoring and decided to leave him there, slipping out of bed slowly. She padded downstairs, meeting Luka and eating food set out for her. Once she had finished eating, Luka spoke.
"You have lessons today, so go and get ready and then come back down here." She said, ushering Rin back upstairs.
Rin showered and clothed herself before heading back downstairs. Len was in a deep sleep, so she left him there.
"Hiya Luka..." Rin muttered, still sleepy, "What lessons are we doing?"
Luka turned to meet Rin's gaze, "Oh, only the one. You seem too out of it this morning for more then an hour."
They both went to the library and sat down in the comfortable chairs.
"Ah, Len!" Luka said as she saw a figure approaching her and Rin, "Good morning!"
Len walked over, dressed and clean, but looking tired.
"Hello Miss Luka..." He said sleepily, yawning, "Hello Rin..."
He sat down beside the two girls and yawned again, "What is Rin learning?"
"Maths." Rin stated flatly, she didn't seem to be enjoying the lesson so far.
"Maths is good." Len replied, "It is...useful?"
"You could say that." Luka commented, "Lets continue, Rin."
"We've been at it for 45 minutes, please!" Rin begged, "Stop!"
Luka sighed, staring at the younger girl, "Fine."
"I love you forever, Luka!" Rin shouted, jumping up and running out of the library.
Both Luka and Len gave the girl strange looks as she left.
"What do you want for breakfast, Len?" Luka asked, standing up.
"I do not mind!" Len replied, following Luka's lead.
