It was a phenomenon
Waking up at 5 AM
Knowing that something
Was amiss
He couldn't find out
At first
But, when he checked in on her
Her bed was empty
So,
He took off running
He knew she'd been lying
He knew she'd been in pain
He knew she'd try something
And yet,
He still didn't do anything
Maybe,
He wanted to ignore it
Maybe,
He wanted to run away
Maybe,
He just didn't believe it
But – overall,
He neglected her feelings
Her silent cries he knew he could hear
And only left her heart to suffer
He would learn the hard way.
Regret
He felt it
Dishonesty
He dripped with it
Leery
He couldn't help it
But…
He knew better.
And,
Yet
She was gone
And he would go after her.
The snow
Beautiful
Silver
Burning cold
It crunched
Under his sneakers
As he ran out from the backyard
To the forest beyond
His flashlight blared
Snow sparkled
But,
What was beautiful
Seemed deadly
He had a feeling
He was too late
He should've listened.
"Rin!"
He should've done something.
"Rin!"
He should've listened to his heart.
"…"
But…
"…No…N-No…NOO...!"
He would learn…the hard way.
